Must I register before attending class?
YES. No one will be allowed in if not listed on the Class Attendance list
Where is the KiDs1st Program held?
The KiDs1st Classroom in the Kane Branch Courtroom or via Zoom (if online is chosen).
When is the KiDs1st Program held?
The program consists of an online portion and a classroom session. You must completed the online portion first before registering for your class. See class schedule on this website.
Do I attend the KiDs1st Program with my spouse?
NO, spouses attend the program separately.
Do I bring the children?
NO, the program is only for adults.
Is the program offered in Spanish?
Yes, see class schedule on this website.
What is the cost and how do I pay for the class?
The cost of the KiDs1st Program is $90.00 per person. The county Circuit Clerk should collect the $90.00 fee at the time of filing the first pleading or appearance filed by each party. The hours of the Circuit Clerk's Office are Monday to Friday, 8:30AM to 4:30PM. Your certificate of completion will not be filed until payment is made.
When must I complete the KiDs1st Program requirement?
The program must be completed within 4 months of the initial filing of the case or appearance by the respondant.
What do I bring?
Bring a pen and a notebook as well as a photo ID.
How will the court know I have completed the KiDs1st Program requirement?
If you have completed the program, your completion certificate will be put in your court file.
Why won't my "F" case show up?
"F" or Family cases have to be ordered by the Judge to attend the KiDs1st class. Please email the court order to kids1st@co.kane.il.us.
